Yasmeen Abuarab is a Cairo-based Egyptian writer, critic, and cultural researcher with a deep passion for music, theater, and the arts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Theatrical Criticism from Ain Shams University (2018), graduating with a Very Good (High) grade. Her graduation project, “The Image of the Intellectual in Egyptian Cinema (1967 – Early 1970s)”, was later published as an academic book.
In 2025, Yasmeen released her book “INKCORE” through Dar Ebhar Publishing, which was featured at the Cairo International Book Fair 2026. She also runs a personal blog focused on cultural, social, and critical writing, and works in content writing and website copy development for various companies and agencies.
Her career began in 2012 as a translator for online magazines, specializing in music and cultural articles, before gaining experience in theatrical directing and event coordination. She contributed as an assistant director to the play “Log In” at Hanager Arts Center (2018–2019).
Beyond her academic and professional work, Yasmeen is a musician and songwriter in an alternative rock band, a glam art makeup enthusiast, and a devoted practitioner of meditation and spiritual practices, including witchcraft. Her work often explores the representation of women and cultural discourse in visual arts, blending research, creativity, and hands-on experience in media and culture.
ياسمين أبو عرب كاتبة وناقدة تحليلية مصرية مقيمة في القاهرة، متخصصة في المسرح والفنون والثقافة، بشغف عميق بالموسيقى والفن.
حصلت على ليسانس آداب – قسم الدراما والنقد المسرحي من جامعة عين شمس عام ٢٠١٨ بتقدير جيد جدًا مرتفع. مشروع تخرجها بعنوان "صورة المثقف في السينما المصرية من ١٩٦٧ حتى النصف الأول من السبعينيات" ونُشر لاحقًا ككتاب أكاديمي في عام ٢٠٢٥، أصدرت ياسمين كتابها "إنك-كور" عن دار إبهار للنشر، وشارك الكتاب في معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب ٢٠٢٦. كما تدير مدونة شخصية متخصصة في الكتابة الثقافية والاجتماعية والنقدية، وتعمل في كتابة المحتوى وصياغة المواقع الإلكترونية لعدة شركات ووكالات. بدأت مسيرتها المهنية عام ٢٠١٢ كمترجمة لمجلات إلكترونية متخصصة في المقالات الثقافية والموسيقية، قبل أن تكتسب خبرات عملية في إخراج المسرح وتنظيم الفعاليات. شاركت كمساعِدة مخرج في مسرحية "تسجيل دخول" بمركز الهناجر للفنون (٢٠١٨–٢٠١٩). إلى جانب عملها الأكاديمي والمهني، ياسمين موسيقية وكاتبة أغاني، وتركّز أعمالها على تحليل صورة المرأة والخطاب الثقافي في الفنون البصرية، وتمزج بين البحث الأكاديمي والإبداع والجانب العملي في الإعلام والثقافة.
